Terms of Service
Last updated August 12, 2026.
The service
Handset (handset.dev) provides business communications services — messaging, voice, voicemail, and phone numbers — via API and dashboard. Handset is currently in early access; access is granted individually, and these terms are supplemented by each design partner's agreement.
Acceptable use
You may use the service only for lawful communication with recipients who have consented to be contacted. Prohibited: unsolicited messaging, content violating carrier rules or CTIA guidelines, deceptive or fraudulent traffic, and any unlawful content. Handset enforces recipient opt-outs (STOP) at the platform level and may suspend accounts that violate messaging compliance rules.
Messaging terms
Text messages sent through Handset support STOP (opt out), START (resubscribe), and HELP keywords. Message frequency varies by use. Message and data rates may apply and are set by recipients' carriers. Consent to receive messages is never a condition of purchase. See our Privacy & SMS Policy for how personal information is handled.
Fees, availability, liability
Usage-based fees are agreed per account. The service is provided “as is” during early access; we work closely with each partner on availability but do not yet offer a formal SLA. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Handset's liability is limited to the fees paid for the service in the preceding three months.
